I would like to take a short moment and re-post the rules for those of you that are just joining us. Meet Bob. A critic who is too scared to leave his real name on the blog. Bob pointed out a very good point. I have been cheating...NOT. I have been playing by MY rules because this is MY game. So here are the rules...
(1) I cannot spend over $30 on food
(2) I cannot ask for a meal but can eat at someone's house that invites me over
(3) if I invite someone over for a meal, they have to eat from the available rations from the challenge (that should be interesting)
(4) I can work or trade services for food (the good ole barter system)
So, on to what I ate today....
Running out the door to volunteer at New Spring, I grabbed a Nature Valley granola bar. Of course, I ate a bagel while I was at church because New Spring loves volunteers and wants to feed them scrumptious food :) Thanks New Spring!
For lunch, some friends were having a get together and invited me over. I pitched in the last $0.69 that I had to spend for the month in the pot for food. That cashed out the remaining balance of the $30 for the $30 challenge. I know it's not a lot but they were not expecting anything anyways so it was great!
My friend Tori approached me at New Spring...Love you Tori :)...and gave me a cupcake :) It was deliciousness :) Haven't eaten anything for supper yet, but I plan on making a bowl of cereal or something simple :) I mean that's all you really need anyways, right? :)
I read your story in the newspaper, very interesting:) I was wondering how you came up with the amount of $30?
ReplyDeleteI just said $1 per day for an average month.
ReplyDelete30 days per month = $30
hahaha... jeff i thought this 'Bob' was right on... this is arthur so im not hiding behind the anonymity and this is my first post... but let us just be honest... a gift card to olive garden, food at NewSpring and coffee, and other freebies isn't living off of $30. I totally understand your rule was to only spend $30 but actually live off of $30 worth of food is quite different than only spending $30. I mean i bet you would agree that anyone could accomplish this $30 challenge simply by accepting 'free' food. I would suggest maybe for next month that you live off of $30 worth of food rather than spending only $30. However, i will say that i wouldn't be able to do either one of them so kudos to you man... later gator
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your experiment. I blogged about somebody else trying this last year, and there are some tips in that post and in the comments you might find useful. I think you'd eat better, anyway.=)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting Arthur! So I guess I should change it to the $30 spending challenge huh? I guess that would communicate what I am trying to do here a little better :)
